Alumnus of Processwork UK

Evelyn Figueroa

Evelyn Figueroa was born and raised in Puerto Rico and has lived most of her life in Paris, France where she works as a therapist and Yoga teacher. A member of the RSPOPUK  faculty for 10 years (2000-2010) she has been in the faculty of the diploma training programme in Spain since 2011. She has also been involved in the facilitation of seminars in the diploma training programme in Slovakia.

Her main areas of interest are body and movement work, inner work and creativity. She has been researching how physical symptoms and disability affect our identities and how these are structured by the culture we live in and its attitude to disability and death. She has developed Process-oriented Yoga which uses the archetypal Yoga postures to explore our physical and psychological edges, adapting the postures to the person unlike most Yoga schools. This approach can therefore be practised with people identified as “disabled”, as well as with “healthy” people.

She paints, makes puppets and is fascinated by recycling “junk” creatively. An ardent reader in the 3 languages she speaks fluently (English, French and Spanish) she also dedicates time to meditation and inner work. What moves and guides her is the connection with the deep essence of Life, that which is beyond and at the root of all experience.
